Burr founded the Bank of the Manhattan Company, later Chase Manhattan Bank, then JPMorgan Chase. In 1800, Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton were key campaigners for their parties. Burr's Republican slate of NYC assemblymen was elected giving electoral votes to Jefferson, helping him win the 1800 presidential election. This drove a wedge between Hamilton and Burr, which eventually became the famous duel where Burr shot and killed Hamilton.
