Alexander Graham Bell, 1847-1922, scientist, inventor, engineer, credited with patenting the first telephone, along with many other important inventions that served humanity. Raised by a deaf mother and married to a deaf lady, his research on hearing and speech directly impacted his work on the clarity of the patent, and he was awarded the first U.S. patent for the telephone in 1876.
