President Andrew Jackson, March 15, 1767 - June 8, 1845, was the seventh President of the United States elected in 1828. He was also the last U.S. President to have been a veteran of the Revolutionary War!... and the second President to be a prisoner of war! Here is the fully signed formal and complete land purchase document, dated April 6, 1829, the 53rd year of U.S. Independence. This is for a Mr. John Henderson's acquisition of land in Indianapolis, IN, of 80 acres. It is signed by Andrew Jackson as President and the Commissioner of the General Land Office, George Graham, who was also acting US Secretary of War under two presidents. Graham was also extremely important in meeting with Jean Laffite and persuading his French Colony in Galveston, Texas to accept American jurisdiction! His signature is also very rare and important! The official presidential seal is fully in tact. The verso is also signed by John Henderson.
