The Germantown Carousel Company in Philadelphia created this magnificent carousel horse in c.1905. It was a growth period of the G. A. Dentzel Steam and Horse Power carousel builder, one of the most famous names in all of carousel history! It was on a carousel in Chicago, and purchased directly off of the amusement ride in 1980. It was authenticated by the present owners of the Germantown Carousel Co., which now makes cars for roller coasters and bumper cars. When removed from the carousel, it was fully restored. Remarkably it still has the brass tag on the right ear, and those tags are always missing. Beautiful design, elegant and powerful piece.
