Dr. Benjamin Spock, 1903 - 1998, American pediatrician whose book, Baby and Child Care, written in 1946, is one of the best sellers of all time. He was the first pediatrician to study the psychoanalysis of children’s needs and promote affection and treating children like small individuals, not pets. He defined causes for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, and won a Human Rights Award for his study and opinion on circumcisions.
