Eli Whitney, 1765 - 1825, inventor of the Cotton Gin. He studied at Yale before inventing this device that highly streamlined the process of extracting fiber from cotton seeds. With the patent widely pirated, Whitney struggled to earn compensation and recognition for his genius invention. But rightfully he prevailed. He later went on to pioneer"Interchangeable Parts" systems of production, a revolutionary process that is still used today. Here is a rare, original signature with images of both the "Interchangeable Parts" system, and his Cotton Gin.
