General James Longstreet 1821-1904, 2nd in command to General Robert E. Lee in the Confederate States of America during the Civil. He led his troops to victory at the second battle of Bull Run (Manassas) and was the man who advised Lee against Picket's charge on the last day of the Battle of Gettysburg. General Longstreet was right and it was a mistake from which the South would not recover. Lonstreet was one of the foremost Confederate generals of the Civil War, called "my old war horse" by General Lee. Historians say he was the finest corps commander on either side.
