Albert Pike

Albert Pike

SKU: #17774

General Albert Pike signed letter, hand written poem and original Carte de Visite. Albert Pike was an attorney, Confederate officer, writer and some say one of the founders of the American Freemasons, so a hugely important influence during the Civil War. He was also the Sovereign Grand Commander of the Southern rights of the Masons and published the defining book on the morals and dogma of Freemasonry. As a Civil War General, he was so esteemed that Albert Pike is the only Confederate military officer to be honored with an outdoor statue in Washington DC. In this letter, Albert Pike responds, fully in his own hand, to a request for information on his role at the battle of Pea Ridge, in Arkansas, where he led a troop of Indians to fight the northerners. Also included is a handwritten stanza form his poem "Reunion". An original Carte de Visite c.1860 completes the display.
