William Randolph Hearst, the publisher who built's America's largest newspaper empire and then created the largest magazine and newspaper business in the world. Twice elected as Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives, he was the inspiration for the famous movie, "Citizen Kane". His mansion, Hearst Castle overlooks the Pacific still today and is a Historical Monument. His corporation continues to this day as one of the largest privately held media conglomerates in the world.
